Amanda Akers
Amanda has been working with NDIS participants since the scheme rolled out across Gympie and the Sunshine Coast in 2019.
Through working closely with participants, families, and providers, she has developed a strong practical understanding of how the NDIS operates and how plans can be used to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Amanda is well known and highly respected within the local disability community for delivering high-quality, reliable plan management services. As Director of Sunshine Coast Plan Manager, she is a trusted registered provider of plan management supports, supporting participants across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie regions.

She is an experienced professional with a commitment to ongoing learning, holding a Certificate III in Individual Support along with tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Teaching, and Psychology.
Prior to the NDIS, Amanda worked as a Special Education Teacher in a Gympie secondary school, where her passion for inclusion, advocacy, and person-centred support was shaped. She has since gone on to build Sunshine Coast Plan Manager from the ground up and now leads a team of over 30 staff.

Supporting people with disability is deeply personal for Amanda. Having lived with a physical disability since birth, she brings genuine insight, empathy, and understanding to her work. This lived experience shapes her commitment to providing respectful, empowering, and truly person-centred support.
Amanda believes that with the right supports in place, the NDIS can be life-changing, and she is passionate about supporting participants and families every step of the way.
